For this week’s episode, I’m welcoming back Alex Theuma, founder of Shift AI.

Alex previously founded and ran SaaStock for more than 10 years, building one of the leading conferences for the B2B SaaS ecosystem in Europe.

After seeing how quickly AI was reshaping the software industry, Alex made the difficult decision to stop SaaStock and start from scratch with a new event: Shift AI Europe.

During this episode, we talked about why he decided to move away from a well-established brand, how the rise of AI is changing the software ecosystem, and why the relationship between startups, scale-ups and larger software companies is becoming much more balanced when it comes to learning and sharing experience.

We also went deep into how Alex is designing Shift AI differently from a traditional conference: pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, curated roundtables, targeted side events through “Shift Experiences”, and a program designed to avoid the usual conference overload.

Finally, we discussed the speakers and topics that will shape the first edition of Shift AI Europe, from transforming existing SaaS companies into AI-first businesses to building and monetizing AI-native software companies.
